As a beginner you should know about your skateboard stance. Find out whether you are goofy or regular footed. It is important to know which foot you are comfortable to put forward while skateboarding. Some people skate with their right foot forward while others skate with their left foot forward. It is always advisable to go ahead with whichever foot you are comfortable with when you learn to skateboard.

Stances stand for the two different ways to stand on the skateboard. When you put your right foot forward it is called goofy and when you put your left foot forward it is called regular. Let us analyze to find out which foot you are comfortable to stand with when you learn to skateboard.
If you try to kick a ball that is placed in front of you, then you would move one foot back to kick the ball while balancing on the other foot. So the balancing foot should be put forward and the kicking foot should be the back foot while you learn to skateboard.
You could also try finding it out by trying to climb the stairs. The foot that you lift to put it on the first step will be your back foot and the other the front foot when you learn to skateboard.
The next method will be to stand straight with both legs together and ask someone to push you, The leg that you put forward will be the back leg in the skateboarding.
Just like how people are right handed and left handed so is it with the foot too. Mostly people are regular footed. But there are some who are goofy. It is always best to go ahead with whatever you are comfortable with while you learn to skateboard.
